From January 1st to June 30th Denmark will have

presidency on the council of the European Union.

The main point of having the presidency is to set the

agenda, for what is to be discussed in the European

Union. The presidency rotates among the member

states of the EU and every presidency has two supporting

member states, with whom they collaborate and make

a joint objective for the presidency.

Denmark is collaborating with Poland, who had the

presidency before Denmark and Cyprus who will take over

after Denmark.

The country that has the presidency has influence over

what matters to be discussed in the EU, within certain

boundaries. Some issues from past presidencies might

be unsolved and new issues might occur. These have to

be prioritized and dealt with, before moving on to

different matters.

In preparation for the presidency, Denmark listed four

priorities that will be discussed within the EU and

these are as follows:

A responsible Europe

A dynamic Europe

A green Europe

A safe Europe
