Dual Citizenship for Danish expatriates
Pas

The new Danish government wants to make it possible

for Danes to have a dual citizenship.

Two sentences in the new government platform is

supposed to make life easier for Danes living abroad:

Denmark is a modern society in an international

world. That is why it should be possible to have a dual

citizenship.

90 percent of the EU members have the right to a dual

citizenship and now the Danish government will rise

this percentage by letting Danes have that same right.

The motion from the Danish government is received with both joy and scepticism by

parties in the opposition.

Liberal Alliance is supportive of this new motion, whereas Dansk Folkeparti is against

the motion. Dansk folkeparti states that a person should be loyal to the country where

he or she is a citizen.
