On December 7, 130 Danes and Americans in high Christmas spirits joined the DACC Christmas Lunch at the magnificent Carter Center in Atlanta. Here the guests enjoyed three courses of traditional and delicious Danish Christmas food, including everything from herring and fried flounder to liver pate, duck and Danish meatballs. The guests heartily ate their way through the first two courses, and as tradition dictates, it was difficult for many to make room for the delicious rice pudding, fruit salad and cheese and crackers rounding off the meal. However, belts were loosened and a fun competitive mood was set in the battle for the almond present. For those of you not originating from Denmark, the almond present is a present rewarded to the lucky person, who finds a full-sized almond in his or her portion of rice pudding. DACC would like to thank Proof of the Pudding for catering this very delicious Danish-style Christmas lunch, making Christmas in Atlanta feel almost like home. The competition for the almond was not the only competition the afternoon offered. DACC and the guests were fortunate to have so many friends who, in the spirit of Christmas, had donated presents for a great Christmas raffle. We would like to share our appreciation of and send out a big warm thank you to: Marianne & John Woodyard - Gitte & Steen Hagensen - Forrest Hills Dahlonega - Conny & Jørgen Conradsen HansGrohe - Englyst (Lotte Heise) - ModernDanish.com - Andreas Hansen - Danish Delight - Nordisk Import Dante’s Down the Hatch - Hilton Caribe San Juan Puerto Rico - Sonny’s BAR-B-Q - Andretti’s - Jette & Kris Binder Maileg North America - Vibeke & Steen Morup-Olsen - Delta Airlines - Christel Mullins -

It is a well-known fact that for a Christmas lunch to be traditionally Danish, it also has to offer Danish schnaps and beer. DACC would like to thank DSV and EXHAUSTO for sponsoring the Danish schnaps and beer for the lunch.
In between the eating, drinking and partying, there were room for a few serious moments. Each year, at DACC, we honor an individual who has been making a special effort in strengthening the Danish-American community. Something which is naturally close to the heart of DACC. We do this by giving that individual the title of "Community Leader of the Year" and presenting him or her with an award. This year, the award went to Honorary Consul of Denmark Christopher Smith, who continues to go out of his way to help the Danish Community here in Georgia. We treasure his effort very much. The award was presented by last year's recipient, Vagn Nielsen from Proof of the Pudding. DACC's annual meeting, where members could vote for the DACC Board, had been held prior to the Christmas lunch. At the lunch, the new Chairman of DACC, Charlotte Nytoft, was announced and presented by previous Chairman Gitte Hagensen. Both held a speech, one about great achievements made in the past, and the other about achievements waiting to be reached in the future.
We would like to thank all members, who turned up to vote, or who chose to send in their votes in advance. It means a lot to us that our members are actively engaged in the organization, and we really appreciate it. Below, you can see pictures from the DACC Christmas lunch.
