Stig Rossen – Special Appearance for DACC Georgia It was a pure coincidence that we found out that Stig Rossen and his band were going to be in Georgia and South Caroline to kick off his USA 2009 Tour in February 2009. We first learned about it in January, and we acted quickly: An e-mail was sent to Stig Rossen, asking whether they could incorporate a stop in Atlanta in their already packed tour. It turned out, that Stig Rossen was going to meet up with his band in Atlanta, rehearse here for two days and then go on to South Caroline for their first performance. However, they had not been able to find a location for their practice, so if we could help…
Just one more phone call “landed” the location: Dennis Carlsson in his usual helpful manner – offered a 300 seat auditorium at Emory University for their practice. Stig Rossen was extremely excited that this issue was now taken care of, and in return he offered a free rehearsal performance on Wednesday, February 12th, as the band was heading out the next morning. We couldn’t let such an opportunity pass without taking advantage of it. We were pressed for time, but an invitation was designed and sent out – and sign-ups started to pour in.
On performance day, 80+ people had signed up, and even more showed up at the doors, and what a show it was! It was intimate, breathtaking, beautiful, and fun. Stig Rossen has a wonderful voice, his band was fantastic, and the location was perfect. We also got a chance to experience Stig Rossen’s great sense of humor and we were impressed with the variety of music that he mastered: Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Benny Andersen/Bjorn Ulvaeus (Chess) – and Andrew Lloyd Weber, of course. After the performance, Stig Rossen and his band met with the audience, posing for photographs, giving autographs, and sharing stories.
You can go on-line to buy Stig Rossen’s CDs, DVDs and his book “Livet Skal Ikke Leves Paa Autopilot”. If you order before March 31st (new extended date), there will be no shipping charges. Just mention “Atlanta” on your order. His website is http://shop.stigrossen.dk Stig Rossen will sign all products, and if you want a special greeting you only need to state that in connection with your order under “remarks” We hope to be able to host another concert with Stig Rossen – hopefully with a longer notice next time and maybe with a weekend performance instead.
