Fastelavn was brought in with an arctic front from Denmark, so luckily we had a cozy cabin with heat and hot coffee, while decorating the traditional Fastelavn Ris and Rasle botter.

The dressed up crowd was lured to the stage with promise of money for their rasle botter. Pictures were taken and “Boller op og boller ned..” was somewhat song by parents mostly, while noice was made by the rasle botter.

Two strong men took the Fastelavns tonder to the designated tree – outside! Somewhat lucky and unforeseen, the wood tonde seem to have dried over the year making it crack within one round of those strong hits from our youth crowd compared to last year with several attempts even from adults – meaning that our youth champion xxx retained his crown again this year and the young champion xxx was new to the crown – and we could all rush back in to the warmth.

Congratulations to the winners!

The day was finished with, of course more coffee, tea, cold drinks, hot dogs, sandwiches and Bjarne’s delicious Fastelavns boller.

Fastelavn would not be a real Fastelavn without the yummy Fastelavns boller, which Bjarne has made for us these past years.

It is not said enough but donation and help from dedicated people like Bjarne and his wife Susan help DACC to be as successful as it is.

So, on behalf of the kids and me who has enjoyed the buttery Danish pastries – Mange Tusinde Tak and good luck with your retirement.

Y’all will be missed tremendously.

Anne & the kids
