Modern Atlanta 2010 - DESIGN IS HUMAN festival takes place in Atlanta, Georgia from 1-6 June 2010. For six days in June, Atlanta celebrates the best in design, architecture, art and academia!
MA10 “Design is Human”, is a week-long citywide program which focuses on design excellence in many areas of life:
- architecture
- communication art
- fashion
- interior design
- visual arts
- social responsibility
MA10 ranges from an opening night reception and modern design exhibition to a multi-layered fundraiser party for CARE, (CARE is an international relief agency whose tireless efforts empower women and children in Africa), along with lectures, unique activities, and visual art experiences including events at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art. During the weekend of June 5 & 6, MA10 presents a tour of selected modern homes throughout Atlanta.
This year we are very excited to be recognizing the strong contributions of the Danish design community. Our honored guests will be BIG (www.big.dk) – an acclaimed architecture company from Copenhagen, with Kai-Uwe Bergmann, who will give a lecture at High Museum of Art on the 5th of June.
Claydies, two well known designers from Copenhagen, who will come and show their unique ceramic artwork and do the performance both on the 1st of June at the Launch Party and on the 5th of June at the High Museum Piazza, where they also will lead the clay workshop.
Another important guest who will show famous Danish design in Atlanta is Normann Copenhagen, the company which promotes an extraordinary everyday design from Denmark and works of young designers from all over the world. Both their and Claydies products will be available for purchase at Modern Atlanta Store, open during the festival at the White Provision, where most of the MA events will be held.
Most events are free to attend. Home Tour, MA Launch/Kick-off Party and MA’ology Paris Fundraiser for CARE event tickets are available online at www.modern-atlanta.org and select ticket outlets.
