LIGHTS - CAMERA - ACTION

Don’t forget the Danish Film Festival continues this Friday!
Come join us for the final weekend of the 5th annual Danish Film Festival at the Atlanta High Museum of Art. We will be showcasing some of Denmark’s HOTTEST box office hits. Thank you to all of those who made it out last weekend for the viewing of Fear Me Not and Flame and Citron. We hope you enjoyed the films! This weekend we will be featuring two GREAT movies: Take the Trash and Terribly Happy.
 |
Friday’s Showing at 8 pm is Take the Trash (Blå mænd)
Jesper is a successful IT salesman. With a beautiful wife and a lovely home, his picture perfect life seems complete until one day when his arrogance hits him like a boomerang, and he loses everything overnight. Jesper is sentenced to community service at a recycling dump with people he thinks are lowlifes. As Jesper gets used to his hands getting dirty, he meets a girl and realizes that this simpler life is more meaningful than expected. But when the dump is threatened to be shut down, Jesper has to fight a greater cause to help his new-found friends.
This feature film debut came in at fifth place on the Top 20 for 2008, ahead of "The Dark Knight" and "Sex and the City", bringing in a remarkable 449,000 admissions at the domestic box office. The film is co-written with actor and stand-up comedian Mick Ogendahl.
Won Robert Award (Danish Oscars) - Audience, and a Zulu Award for Best Supporting Acress. |

Saturday’s Showing at 8 pm is Terribly Happy (Frygtelig Lykkelig)
Robert has a number of skeletons in his closet, which he is determined to bury. Although hardly his dream job, Robert sees the position of temporary village constable as a necessary stage on the road to rehabilitation. He just needs to do well and generally behave by the book. However, village life and the macabre provincial order don't fit easily into Robert's plans. Nothing is ever straightforward, and certainly not when you are way out in the country.
The official Danish selection for this year's Academy Awards and winner of 7 Robert Awards (Danish Oscars) including Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Screenplay. Won Bodil Awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Film, Best Supporting Actor, and a Silver Hugo at Chicago International Film Festival.
