Christmas Lunch 2006

Sunday, December 10, DACC held the annual meeting and Christmas lunch at the Jimmy Carter Center. 135 people participated in this very popular event.

Annual Meeting
Gitte Hagensen, President of DACC, reported how DACC has made a profit for the first time in years. All in all 2006 has been a great year for DACC featuring a lot of successful events like the Danish Film Festival, the Danish American Business Summit and a lot of minor business and social events.

Changes to the by-laws were adopted. View the updated by-laws. Kent Kristiansen and Henrik Engell-Jensen were re-elected for a second term on the Board. Anne Sornpao and Andreas Hansen were elected to sit on the Board.

Christmas Lunch
The first treats the guests received when arriving to the Jimmy Carter Center were glögg and klejner. The Lunch itself was extremely delicious and everyone enjoyed to taste the traditional Danish Christmas dishes including herring, headcheese, rib roast, meatballs, rye bread, cheese and of course rice pudding.

During the lunch two of Santa's prettiest helpers sold raffle tickets, and later on drew the winning numbers. Lots of great prices were raffled away to lucky and happy people. The two main prices, two Delta international roundtrip tickets, were won by Eva Lindvig and Jon Lykke.

Last year's Community Leader of the Year, Poul Sřrensen, gladly presented the Community Leader of the Year award. A lot of good candidates were nominated for the award. Many people have contributed greatly to the Danish-American community in 2006. Normally, only one person receives the award, but this year two people received the honour of becoming Community Leader of the Year together:
Gitte & Steen Hagensen.

Both Gitte and Steen Hagensen meet the criteria for the Community Leader of the Year Award. They have both shown great willingness to help others, and have had a  positive influence on trade between Denmark and the Southeast of the USA.

DACC kindly thanks all the companies and individuals who made this unforgettable Christmas lunch possible:

Proof of the Pudding for the great Danish food
EXHAUSTO for Santa's helpers
DFDS Transport for the snaps
Carlsberg for the beer
All the companies and individuals who donated great raffle items
