Danish Song Contest winner 2012

Saturday the 21st of January this year's Danish Melody

Grand Prix, a Danish song contest, was held. Nine

songs were competing to win and to earn a place in

the Eurovision, the song contest for all of Europe. More

than 1.5 million Danes were watching the popular show,

and both a jury and the Danes decided who the winner

should be. It was close, but Soluna Samay with the

song Should've Known Better won.

Danish Presidency of the EU

From January 1st to June 30th Denmark will have

presidency on the council of the European Union. 

The main point of having the presidency is to set the 

agenda, for what is to be discussed in the European 

Union. The presidency rotates among the member 

states of the EU and every presidency has two supporting 

member states, with whom they collaborate and make 

a joint objective for the presidency.

at DACC from January 2012 until June 2012. This internship

is part of my education in marketing management, which I'm

studying at Business Academy Aarhus. It is an AP degree and

the internship is a part of the last semester.

Hi my name is Stine K. Andersen and I am one of the new

Interns at DACC. I am 21 years old, and I am from Soenderborg,

Denmark, close to the German border. I study marketing

management, an AP degree of 2 years.

I will be in Atlanta for 5 months, and I have been looking very

much forward to my stay and internship here.

H.C Andersen story at Fernbank Museum

During Fernbanks 2nd annual "Winter Wonderland: Celebrations

and Traditions around the world", the Dane Gitte Toben will be

telling a Hans Christian Andersen story. Gitte Toben will tell the

story on Saturday December 17th at 2pm.

The DACC has decorated a Christmas tree with traditional

Danish ornaments, which also can be seen at the exhibit.

Member of the month - Bibi Dietrich

The DACC is happy to recognize Bibi Dietrich as

Member of the Month.

Bibi has been a great help in terms of organizing

the DACC Christmas Luncheon.

The DACC is always happy to see Bibi and her

husband Christopher at our many social,

cultural and business events.

UGA Symposium

The DACC was present at the University of Georgia
Global Engagement 2011 dealing with Public
Diplomacy, Trade and Economic Development.
Denmark was one of nine countries selected to
give a presentation. Our very own Honorary
Consul Chris Smith gave his speech on Public
Diplomacy. There were over 200 individuals
from Georgia, Washington, D.C and Miami
attending the event.
